We had a quiet morning at the apartment. We left early in the afternoon to pick up Liliya a t Father's House after school. This time when we got on the marshrutka and paid our fare, we said "otchiy dim?" "country club?" We had to say it 3 times before the guy said "Oh, Otchiy Dim, da, da" (Da is Yes Russian). We need to work on our accent, lol. We actually arrived before it turned dark and Liliya was waiting for us. We went up to her flat (4th floor...now I know why God was prompting me to take the stairs this summer at work....4th floor). She was all packed and ready to go. We picked up her stuff and headed out to get back on the marshrutka. While we were waiting at the stop her Russian teacher came walking by on the sidewalk. Liliya greeted her and told her we were her parents. This older lady got a big smile on her face and started speaking to us in Russian. Of course Liliya had to translate. She got embarrassed as the teacher said very nice things about her "she is a good girl, she goes to church, she is nice, she is good student, she studies hard....." It was very nice to meet her.
Our trip back to the apartment was without incident. We stopped at Novus (grocery store by the Metro and bus stop) and picked up a few groceries. We tried to get Liliya to pick out some snacks and she wouldn't. Finally at the end she asked if she could get a small thing of Pringles. (She must be half American already!) She helped me decipher what a few things were, as sometimes what you think something is according to the picture, is not what it is at all!
When we arrived at the apartment, the McKenney's were busy making tacos, complete with homemade tortillas. They are so good, I could eat just the tortillas alone. Later on we all played Uno, caught up on Facebook, talked and went to bed.
